|Abstract:||In this session, the three speakers will perform a deep dive into Big Data. Prof. Dr. Joachim Buhmann from ETH Zurich will explain how machine learning methods can extract complex structures from vast amounts of data. Secondly, Dr. Niko Neufeld from the LHCb experiment at CERN will stress the importance of computing in the online processing of enormous amounts of detector data arriving at a rate of many Terabits/s. Thirdly, Dr. Gunther Weber from LBNL will present applications of topological data analysis and a new approach to topological analysis on parallel machines.
