|
The goal of this BoF is to involve ETP4HPC and other European HPC ecosystem stakeholders to share, discuss and improve common global long-term visions and implementation plans. HPC is considered a strategic topic by the EC at the dawn of Horizon 2020, with its three pillars:
- HPC technologies (promoted by ETP4HPC)
- HPC e-infrastructure (implemented by PRACE)
- HPC for science and industry (supported by PRACE & ETP4HPC and strengthened by future (CoE)
It will be discussed among all the participants how stakeholders can share a common vision, implementing and leveraging a recently signed ‘Public Private Partnership’ with the European Commission - defining orientations for R&D&I in the area of HPC technologies while helping to develop a strong private HPC service sector, providing a pan-EU HPC public infrastructure, with services to drive and develop applications and training for the next generation of computational scientists, and enabling highly efficient numerical simulation applications on high-end supercomputers. Perspectives of future actions will be illustrated, e.g. access to technological testbeds and international collaborations to respond to H2020.
Targeted audience:
The European HPC Eco-system consists of the technology suppliers represented by the European HPC Technology Platform (ETP4HPC), the European HPC Research Infrastructure constituted by the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE)
and Application communities. Stakeholders to be attracted are all the actors participating in the European HPC technology ecosystem, like
- Technology providers
- ISVs facing the manycores/new architectures disruption
- HPC service providers
- Users from research or industry looking for advanced technological HPC systems
- Research centers contributing to HPC research
- Computing centers working on HPC technology or innovative HPC system operation
- All organizations with activities related to HPC technology and looking for providing guidance, organizing synergies or exchanging information
- Representatives of ETPs active in other fields
