Speaker:   Joel Davison, CD-adapco
Abstract:   The use of engineering analysis on massively parallel cloud architectures, both public and private, presents a number of challenges both technologically and financially. This talk presents CD-adapco’s approach to answering these challenges and enabling the usage of STAR-CCM+ on such systems. From a technological standpoint, the presentation will cover how STAR-CCM+’s parallel testing is carried out to ensure maximum performance across a range of core counts and how the client-server architecture enables post-processing on remote computing facilities to be achieved. To answer the financial challenges of running on cloud systems, the Power licensing scheme will be discussed and how it removes the financial restrictions associated with increasing core count and license access.
