Abstract:   To maximize usefulness for scientific insights in the given funding envelope, HPC systems must be run at the minimum cost and applications must use the maximum of theoretical peak performance. This talk addresses both parts: it reports on minimizing the cost of operation for SuperMUC by providing an integrated toolset for energy efficiency and support for improving scalability of application codes with the “LRZ Extreme Scale Workshop Series”.
