Abstract: |
|
The high performance computing has been a highly useful tool for the climate projection and numerical weather prediction. Now, drastic changes for numerical techniques occur in atmospheric and ocean general circulation model. For example, the combination of the quasi-uniform grid and non-hydrostatic equation enables us to conduct large scale computations in this research field. Toward the exa-scale era, the researchers intend to perform such kind of large scale run by the three ways; higher resolution, more ensembles, and more sophisticated physics. I talk about what is expected in the future meteorological simulation, based on the computational science roadmap, which is summarized by the HPCI (High Performance Computational Infrastructure) feasibility study application team. |
