Abstract:   We applied a fast and efficient large time step method, fast compact integration factor method, to phase-field simulations. This method is devised in one of our previous work, it combines efficient decompositions of compact spatial difference operators with stable and accurate exponential time integrators and can deal with stiff nonlinearity in the phase field equations by use of ultistep approximations and analytic evaluations of time integrals. The time step size of this method is comparable or even bigger than those of the implicit finite difference time integration schemes. We implemented the fast compact integration factor on a heterogeneous computing node consists of two CPUs and two MICs. Adopting techniques such as special data structure design, CPU and MIC cooperation , data alignment, vectorization and SIMD operations, we are able to achieve over 470 Gflops performance on a node with 2 CPUs and 2 MICs.
