Brian Connors

Vice-President, IBM Global Product Development & Lab Services, IBM

Brian J. Connors is Vice President, Global Product Development and Lab Services. In this capacity Brian has responsibility for all x86 server & networking development, peripherals,  SW, program management and solutions.  Brian oversees a global team with major R&D hubs in Raleigh NC, Taipei Taiwan and Shanghai China.
Prior to this position Brian was Vice President, Technical Computing and HPC Systems.  In this capacity Brian managed IBM’s broad software and hardware portfolio, which included Power and  x86 Supercomputers as well as associated Software.  As part of a major transformation to this business Brian led the selection, acquisition, integration and operations of the Platform Computing Company.  IBM has consistently been ranked as a leader in TOP500 supercomputing and Brian and his team have re-established leadership in this segment for IBM. 
With over 29 years of experience in the IT industry, Brian has been tapped frequently by the company to lead new business ventures and initiatives within the company. Prior to his Technical Computing/HPC position, Brian was Vice President, for Power and game console custom processors in the IBM Semiconductor division. Other significant roles have included General Manager, IBM PC Consumer Division, CTO IBM Personal Computer Group, Vice President of IBM Power Linux Servers and Vice President for IBM Intellectual Property.
Mr. Connors began his career with IBM as an electrical engineer in Boca Raton Florida and has previously sat on the North Carolina State University business school Board of Advisors, where he has served as past board chairman.  Brian graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and is currently located at Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.
